Celebrating Local Harvest at Chautauqua

The official 2010 Chautauqua Institution season may have ended with the ceremonial three taps of the gavel August 29th, but the Institution in fall has a beauty all its own. And while walking the grounds is a great way to enjoy the quiet, subtle allure of the grounds, there are programs and events that extend into the cooler months as well.

Key among them is the Farm to Table Dinner, held in collaboration with the Field and Fork Network of Western New York, on October 16th at the Athenaeum Hotel. The event features a five course dinner, with wine and micro-brew beer pairing, prepared with all local ingredients, including organic cage free chicken from Good Grass Farms of Ashville and Freeman Homestead Pork from Stockton. Diners will be given an opportunity to meet many of the local farmers whose food is featured in the meal. For more information, contact the Athenaeum Hotel at (800) 821-1881 or e-mail bstanton@ciweb.org.
