Transfer Station

The Town of Westfield operates a Transfer Station on Bourne Street in the Village of Westfield for residents of the Town to dispose of garbage and recyclables. Transfer Station punch card tickets may be purchased at the Westfield Town Clerk’s office, Westfield Tops Market and Westfield Add Lumber True Value. The cost is $20 and includes 10 punches. ADD Lumber True Value charges a service fee of .50 cents. Tickets may only be purchased by Town or Village residents. All trash, refuse, garbage and solid waste brought to the site shall conform to the County regulations in order to be accepted for disposal. Items not accepted are:

  • Electronics (i.e. TVs, Computer Monitors, CPUs, stereos, cell phones, game consoles, etc.)
  • Untreated medical waste
  • Radioactive materials (i.e. Ionizing Smoke detectors)
  • Any liquid waste (paints, solvents, & thinners)
  • Hazardous materials (i.e. ignitable, reactive, corrosive or toxic)
  • Universal wastes (i.e. batteries, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, mercury containing devices)
  • Yard waste, trees, brush, or grass
  • Tires
  • Large appliances (i.e. stoves, refrigerators, hot water tanks)

 

The station attendant will punch one hole for each 33 gallon container. Recyclables will not be punched, but you must have a ticket to bring them to the site.

 

Hours of Operation: Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Should a Saturday fall on a legal holiday, another suitable day of the same week shall be substituted and Casella Waste shall notify the Town Clerk in time to advertise such change in the local newspaper and Town website.
